Mosharraf's resignation unconstitutional
Opposition lawmaker Kader Siddiqui yesterday raised questions about the process of resignation of immediate past state minister for energy AKM Mosharraf Hossain and termed it unconstitutional.
"In the parliamentary system of democracy, a minister will submit his resignation to the prime minister who proceeds it to the president," the Krishak Sramik Janata League lawmaker said raising the issue in a point of order in the Jatiya Sangsad.
"But state minister for energy directly submitted his resignation to the president which is unconstitutional," Kader Siddiqui said.
The president will take decision on a minister's resignation after consultation with the prime minister even the resignation is sent directly to him, Speaker Jamiruddin Sircar said referring to the Constitution.
"As the president has accepted resignation of the state minister for energy, we can say he (president) consulted with the prime minister," the speaker said.
