The Election Commission (EC) will hold a meeting with mayor candidates on April 28 to maintain normalcy during Chittagong City Corporation (CCC) elections.

EC sources said, the role of mayor aspirants in holding a free, fair and neutral election are being viewed with utmost importance. The returning officer will discuss the matter directly with candidates.

Returning Officer Golam Kuddus told BDNEWS that the meeting has been arranged to highlight the EC stance to all candidates.

Meantime, the EC has been considering the appeal for removal of police commissioner seriously as demanded by AL mayor candidate Mohiuddin Chowdhury.

The appeal was learnt to have reached Golam Kuddus through courier service Monday noon.

The legal aspect of the matter is being examined and the appeal will be sent to the EC secretariat in Dhaka soon.
