Universal Studio in still shots

"A picture is worth a thousand words," goes an old adage. Photographs speak through the lens of a camera and the photographer displays his heartfelt emotions through his works. Hence, a brilliant photograph becomes a silent story, beautifully narrated by him. Hemayet Uddin Ahmed is a photographer who is quite capable of doing just that.

A senior cameraman of BTV and an executive committee member of Bangladesh Photographic Society, Hemayet Uddin has been working in the photography field for the last 25 years. During his recent visit to USA, Hemayet had taken some photographs at the Universal Studio, Hollywood. Centre for Developing Management Excellence has organised a photography exhibition comprising the photos at Drik Gallery, from April 22.

Universal Studio at Hollywood -- the only movie thrill park in the world, needs no introduction. It's a world of modern and futuristic wonders, as well as replicas of ancient marvels. At the Studio you can hear the cameras rolling, get an inside look at the sets and uncover the behind-the-scenes secrets of legendary films. Special Effects Stages let you jump into the action of creating the special effects of movie's most amazing illusions.

All these and more came alive on Hemayet Uddin's photographs.

Among the pictures, the ones taken at the sets of Terminator 2: 3D, Water World are awe-inspiring. The pictures of wax statues of film icons at the Wax Museum, Halloween Day Parade, landscape of Los Angeles created raves among the visitors, both young and adults. Other photographs at the exhibition feature the beautiful landscapes of Indiana, some aerial shots of Los Angeles and skylines of Chicago.

The exhibition ends today.
