6 die in road accidents

Six people were killed in three road accidents in Narsingdi, Comilla and Manikganj districts yesterday.

Three people died on the spot when a wood-laden pick-up collided head-on with a truck on the Dhaka- Sylhet highway in Narsingdi district.

The dead are Jamal, 30, Monsoor, 35, and Kamrul, 20.

All of them hailed from Rupganj upazila under Narayanganj district.

Pushcart drivers Rabiul, 28, and Ershad, 27, were killed as a speeding bus rammed their bamboo-laden carriage at Lalmai on the Comilla-Noakhali road early yesterday, police said.

The bus sped away after the accident.

In another accident, rickshaw passenger Wakil Uddin, 45, hailing from Chandair village under Sadar upazila died on the spot when a bus ran over the rickshaw at Bhatbaur, Manikganj, police said.

The critically injured rickshaw-puller was admitted into Manikganj Sadar Hospital.
