He submitted his resignation letter to the chancellor without mentioning any reason.

Prof Bhuiyan left Khulna for Dhaka with bag and baggage on Tuesday morning at the instruction of the education ministry, university sources said.

He joined the university on November 19, 2001. His term was due to expire on November 19 next year as per his contract with the government.

Sources said Prof Bhuiyan fell victim to a conspiracy hatched by a group of teachers with support from two local BNP leaders.
