Robber hurt in 'crossfire'
A robber was bullet-hit allegedly in 'crossfire' between his accomplices and police in Faidabad in Uttara yesterday.
Uttara police said Khalifa Abul, leader of a robber group, received a bullet in his leg during a gunfight at around 4:00am. He is now receiving treatment at National Institute of Traumatology & Orthopaedic Rehabilitation (Nitor).
Sub-inspector Mizanur Rahman and constables Faruq and Mujibur Rahman also suffered minor injuries, the police claimed.
They said Abul's men opened fire on police when the law enforcers were taking him and four other robbers to Uttara Police Station after raiding a Faidabad house. Abul, who is accused in up to eight cases, was hurt in the shootout as police returned fire, they added.
Police seized one revolver, two bullets, two machetes and one toy pistol from the house.
Earlier on Sunday, Abul and his accomplices Jamal, Tutul, Zakir and Jahangir were nabbed near Dhanshiri restaurant in Uttara, Sector No. 6.
