Madrasa student beaten, dies in hospital

A madrasa student beaten by angry mob on November 30 at Foila Bazar under Rampal upazila succumbed to his injuries on Saturday at Mongla Upazila Health Complex of Bagerhat district.

Hossain Ali, a first year student of Gobindapur Fazil Madrasa of Bagerhat, eloped with the wife of local fish trader Khalilur Rahman, police said. Hossain, only son of Ali Shaikh of Mongla Township, was arrested by Rampal police from Mongla on November 10 in this connection.

Khalil and his associates beat Hossain mercilessly on November 30 when he went to Foila Bazar to meet his classmates after release on bail from Bagerhat jail.

He was rushed to Mongla Upazila Health Complex where he died on Saturday noon.

A case was filed with Rampal thana yesterday accusing fish trader Khalilur Rahman and six others.
