SCC female commissioners threaten tougher agitation

Female ward commissioners of Sylhet City Corporation (SCC) threatened a tougher agitation from December 14 if the City Mayor fails to solve the issue of their just rights by December 13. They announced this from a meeting held at Nagar Bhaban on Wednesday. Nadira Begum presided over the meeting. They said they would announce their agitation programme at a press conference on December 14. In the meeting they also protested mayor's comments published in different newspapers terming female commissioners agitation 'unjust'. Kohinoor Yasmin, advocate Rokshana Begum Shahnaj, Saleha Kabir Shepi, Rokshana Khatun, Amena Begum Rumi, Zebunnahar Shirin and Papya Chowdhury addressed the meeting. The crisis began over equal rights of female commissioners in implementation of development projects in city corporation areas for the last few days.
