'Outlaw' lunched in Bheramara

A, alleged outlaw was lynched by a mob at Nawdapara village in Bheramara Thursday night when a gang of outlaws led by him allegedly went to kill a Union Parishad member. Masud Rana Mintu, 27, member of Chadpur UP was coming to Bheramara upazila headquarter from with four persons riding two motorcycles at about 9.30pm. A gang of outlaws led by Mijan and Apan waylaid them. When they reached near the GK (Ganges-Kabadak) canal, the gang attacked them and tried to snatch away Mintu at gunpoint, police said quoting local people. As Mintu's followers cried for help, villagers rushed there and encircled the gang. The gang opened fire on Mintu that hit his leg. The mob caught Mijan and beat him mercilessly. Mijan, 36, a cadre of an outlawed party died on the spot while others managed to flee. Police said Mijan, hailing from Pir Alipur village, is accused in eight cases including two murder cases, filed with Bheramara police station. Police sent his body to Kushtia General Hospital for autopsy.
