Lessons and recreation for the poor

Forty poor children aged one to five years get educational and recreational facilities for five days a week at a day care centre here at a nominal rate.The centre was opened by an NGO, Community Development Advancement Centre (CDAC), established in Sabujbagh area in February, 2001. Caretaker Piara Begum looks after the children who teaches them Bangla, English, Mathematics, painting and general knowledge. CDAC supplies toy, bread, biscuit and chocolate to the children. CDAC Executive Director S M Safiq told this correspondent they collect only Tk 10 per month from each child's guardian.
