Charges framed against 8

The Speedy Trial Tribunal, Chittagong, yesterday framed charges against eight accused in Commodore Golam Rabbani murder case.

They are former managing director of the Korean Export Processing Zone (KEPZ) Abu Naser, former chief security officer of the KEPZ Mohammad Humayun Kabir, Mohammad Hashem, Abdul Malek alias Sohel, Noor Hossain, Mohammad Selim, Munsur Ahmed, and Saiful Islam alias Bilai Saiful.

Judge M Hassan Imam framed the charges against the accused. Six of them were in the dock, while two others--Humayun Kabir and Saiful--have been absconding.

Statement of 29 witnesses will be recorded from November 10 in the tribunal.

Commodore Golam Rabbani, managing director of the Korean Export Processing Zone (KEPZ), was critically injured in an armed attack in Muradpur area of the port city on April 11 and died at a hospital in Bangkok on April 24.
