No-confidence against N'ganj poura chairperson

Ten ward commissioners, out of 12, moved a no-confidence resolution against Narayanganj Pourasava Chairperson Dr Selina Hayat Ivy.

The resolution was sent to the LGRD Minister Abdul Mannan Bhuiyan on Sunday night, who formed a three-member committee to investigate the allegations brought against the chairperson, sources said.

The ten commissioners -- some belong to Awami League and some are aligned with the ruling BNP -- brought allegation of irregularities, corruption and misbehaviour against Dr Selina who was elected chairperson in January 2003.

The commissioners are Haji Obaidullah, Jamsher Ali Jhantu, Shaukat Hashem, Mohiuddin Prodhan, Azahar Hossain, Alauddin Bhuiyan, Mohar Ali, Monwara Begum Minu, Khodeza Khanam Nasrin and Dilara Masud Moyna.

Earlier, the commissioners boycotted the monthly meeting convened by the chairperson on October 13. Later, she also tried twice to hold the meeting but in vain.

When contacted for comments, Dr Selina told this correspondent to submit written queries. The queries were submitted to her, but she failed to give replies until yesterday afternoon.
