List of criminals with bomb records made
Intelligence agencies have made a list of criminals having track record of preparing or using explosives across the country to find out a lead to the August 21 grenade attack on an Awami League (AL) rally that killed 19 people and injured over 200 others.
Sources said the list will be given to Rab, police and intelligence officials to launch a crackdown to nab the suspects. Once they are arrested, investigators will grill them to determine whether they have links to the grenade attack.
As part of the probe into the grisly incident, police and intelligence agency officials continued to search for Mukul, a charge-sheeted accused in the Badda arms and ammunition haul case but they could not trace his whereabouts till yesterday.
Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) started quizzing Abdur Rahman, who reportedly resembles one of the suspects seen roaming on Bangabandhu Avenue in the video footage of the August 21 incident.
A Rab official seeking anonymity said Rahman confesses to his involvement in crimes but denies he has any links to the grenade attack. Rahman, arrested with a pistol and 13 bullets from Uttara on Saturday, is on a 10-day remand in an arms case.
Meanwhile, Interpol experts examined and analysed information and evidence gathered so far at two long sessions with local investigators at the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) headquarters yesterday.
Later, local investigators had a meeting at the headquarters of Special Branch (SB).
JUDICIAL COMMISSION
The one-member Judicial Commission probing the August 21 carnage recorded deposition of two witnesses yesterday.
Justice Md Joynul Abedin, head of the commission, yesterday visited Bangladesh Medical College in Dhanmondi and recorded statements of two victims of the blasts now under treatment there.
The commission has so far recorded statements of 78 people, commission sources said.
