Imperialist designs
Europe.Faizur, On e-mail
Has the world become a jungle? And where is the sovereignty of the weak countries? Today Powell, Rocca, Rumsfeld etc. are visiting the weak countries and forcing them to implement their colonial and imperialistic designs. The justification of the western 'divide and rule policy' has now become clear. It's for ruling the whole world easily. Now, no longer can they stupefy us with the idea that the UN is actually the superpower, and not the US. It's time for the people to unite and unification won't occur with the existence of borders. The countries, which are against capitalism, imperialism, colonialism and occupation, must break their borders and form one single country, as the criterion for action doesn't originate from religion, ethnicity, race or culture. It emanates from ideology. So the countries with the same ideology must become one and should resist this ideology of materialism and exploitation together. Religion, ethnicity, race or culture are not a factor for the unification, the current example is the US and the former example was the Islamic world from the 7th to the 19th century, which included countries of Africa, Asia and ***The visit of US Defence Secretary Donald Rumsfeld to our country is somewhat worrying. It is a fact that the US has lost this war despite winning, soldiers are being sent back in body bags as the Iraqi people vehemently and violently oppose the illegal occupation. Committing Bangladeshi troops is only going to damage our reputation amongst the people of the Middle East. Furthermore, it would be putting our soldiers in danger. Sharif Hussain, London, UK ***It was very sad to hear that our country welcomed the visit of Mr. Rumsfield -- a person who has not only disgraced humanity at large but has also specifically let his own people down: the Americans. Individuals like him have committed crime against humanity by propagating the need for invasion of countries like Iraq and Afghanistan on the pretext of WMD. It is unfortunate that no one is standing up to the present day ruthless US policies: if you are not with me then you are my enemy. Mesbah, On e-mail ***Donald Rumsfeld paid a visit to Bangladesh last Saturday in order to make the Bangladesh government agree to send troops to Iraq. We all know what the coalition forces have been doing in Iraq. They are killing men, women and even children without any reason. They started the occupation of Iraq by fooling the world about WMD which they have been searching for over one year without any success. When they failed to give any valid reasons for the occupation of Iraq, they tried to convince the world saying they were trying to liberate its people. But again, their real mask came off when prisoner abuse was revealed. Donald Rumsfeld is responsible for the inhuman acts perpetrated by his forces. He visited Bangladesh to request us to help them so that they can continue demolishing Iraq. We should help the people of Iraq, not the occupation forces. SM Kamrul Karim, Lalmatia, Dhaka ***Have you forgotten the killings of Iraqi children by the occupation forces? In the name of national security and defence, the Defence Department of the United States sent troops to Iraq. What have they done? We all know the answer. What are they still doing in Iraq? People of Iraq are protesting and fighting against the occupation army. The invaders are demoralised because they are pursuing an unjust cause. We all know Mr. Rumsfeld came to take our army to kill our brothers in Iraq in the name of peace keeping. There is no way to respond to his call. Saad M Karman, On e-mail ***When the whole world is looking with contempt at the person who is responsible for killing, abusing and harassment of thousands of innocent people in Iraq, he paid a visit to Bangladesh. Yes, the man is Donald Rumsfeld. He is the man who talks about democracy, peace and tolerance. On the other hand, he is the man who plays with the blood of thousands of innocent children. He is the man who plays with the dignity of thousands of Iraqi women and men. This time, he was here to make Bangladesh participate in the game of bloodletting. I strongly oppose the idea. M. Mahbubul Alam Aziz Mahalla Road, Muhammadpur, Dhaka ***The visit of Donald Rumsfeld to Bangladesh has humiliated all of us. He is the man who has killed and is still killing innocent men, women and children in the name of democracy in Iraq. He is the man who is exclusively responsible for the violent sexual abuse of Iraqi people in Abu Ghraib Prison. Now this person wants to take troops from Bangladesh to Iraq which means that he wants Bangladesh to be part of mass killing in the name of establishing peace in Iraq. As a conscious citizen of Bangladesh, I strongly protest the visit of Mr. Rumsfeld to Bangladesh. Rahbar Baridhara DOHS, Dhaka ***Rumsfeld visited my country! So sad. What's the objective? Does he think that our soldiers will help the US to continue their terrorist attacks on Muslim countries? What the hell! Does he think that we will not hesitate to send our soldiers to kill our brothers in Iraq in the name of a peace keeping mission? Sajib, On e-mail ***I was extremely shocked when I came to know about the visit of Donald Rumsfeld to Bangladesh. Considering this fact, as a citizen of Bangladesh, I would like to mention two points here -- first, the arrival of Rumsfeld and second the purpose of the visit. Regarding the first point, I oppose the arrival of a war monger to our country. He is responsible for killings of thousands of children and abusing of thousands of men and women. Regarding the second point, I once again question the purpose of the visit of Donald Rumsfeld. The government should be able to read the situation . How can this man talk about democracy after what he has allowed to happen in Iraqi prisons? A citizen Mohakhali DOHS, Dhaka ***The designer of the killings, abuse, torture and sufferings of thousands of innocent Iraqis and Afghans has visited our country. Even more shameful is the fact that our leaders gave him a warm welcome. The whole world has understood today that America tries to dictate everything. Today everybody is trying to resist the US hegemony that goes against humanity. Isn't it high time for the Bangladeshis to wake up and join the whole world shoulder to shoulder? How can we sit and watch our government implementing the imperialist's plans one after another? Adnan, Old DOHS, Dhaka
