A gang of seven muggers waylaid bus driver Nazrul Islam, 35, when he was going towards Gulistan bus stand at 4:00pm. The gang opened fire on him as he refused to surrender his belongings, sources said.

He was admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) with bullet injuries in his left thigh, they added.

However, Motijheel police failed to provide details on the incident till 7:00 in the evening.

In Tejgaon, local goons shot and injured Abul Kalam Khokan, 30, assistant storekeeper of Meer Ceramics Limited, at his Karwan Bazar shop at about 3:00pm, witnesses said.

The gang came to the shop and looked for the shop owner to realise toll. Finding him away, they shot Khokan twice, witnesses added.

He was rushed to the DMCH where he was undergoing treatment, hospital sources said.

Alleged local criminals Al Amin, Alek and Jahir stabbed Mohammad Rahim, 18, a fisherman, when he was returning to his Satarkul house in Badda at around 3:30pm, sources said.

He was admitted to the DMCH with shoulder injuries, they added.

Badda police, however, could not provide further information until 6:30pm.

In Sabujbagh, a gang of four including Saidullah, Aidullah and Harun stabbed Rokeya Akhter Munni, 25, wife of goldsmith Saeed Hossain Talukder, in the stomach at 7:00am as she opened the door taking them as guests, locals said.

Running to the nearby road, a bleeding Munni raised alarm to save her sleeping husband and son. Locals chased the gang hearing her cries, but the quartet fled the scene. She was taken to the DMCH, they added.

Her sister-in-law Mansura Begum told newspersons at the DMCH that the attack was due to a land dispute.
