Vigilante group

This refers to a news report published in two instalments recently in your esteemed daily concerning the rise of one Bangla Bhai in Northern Bangladesh, who is helping the government in eliminating the outlawed members of Sharbahara Party etc.

This is alarming and the entire community of conscious citizens should rise as one against the activities of the so- called Bangla Bhai. Frankly, this country would do well without such vice . Catching criminals and unsocial elements and bringing them to justice are the business of the government.

The actions of Bangla Bhai reminds me of the rise of the vigilante groups in the US during the late 18th century. One such vigilante group was the KU Klux Klan.

I would like to wager that sooner than later if activities like these including the rise of the religious fundamentalists are not checked without further delay, our nation will become a perfect recipe for external interventions resulting into both social and economic setbacks of unprecedented proportions.

The ruling alliance must come out of this ostrich like mindset and stop hiding its face into the dust and keep wishing that the " storm" would disappear.
