DESA blackout

It was just 6.35 in the evening, a few minutes before the call for Maghreb prayer, when many areas of Mohammadpur, Shyamoly, Adabar plunged into darkness on May 13. National dailies like the Ittefaq reported it the next day. We thought it was usual blackout for some maintenance or at worst it could be a routine ' load shedding'. But we were surprised and shocked to know from DESA offices that this power cut was to keep power on at the JS which was in session. We wonder what relation could be there between cutting supply of power to the localities, and depriving hundreds of HSC examinees at such an important study time, with keeping it on at the JS building . We wonder, too, whether there is no emergency generator for this house in case of power failure from the national grid.The truth lies elsewhere. Our bureaucrats and technocrats holding high positions are always busy flattering the ministers, MPs and leaders of the party in power. They are ready to serve the VIPs at the cost of ordinary people. I would like to request the honourable deputy minister for power to find the cause behind this blackout for almost four hours and try to identify the DESA officials responsible for it.
