Commonwealth and SAF Games gold winning shooter Asif Hossain Khan was adjudged the sportsman for the year 2002 while national football captain Rajani Kanta Barman for the year 2003 to receive the 'BSJA President Award' (Rouful Hasan Trophy), introduced in 2001.

Besides, national cricketer Alok Kapali and chess player Mehdi Hasan Parag have been named as the most promising sportsman for 2002 and 2003 respectively. They will receive the Masud Ahmed Rumi Trophy, introduced in 2002.
