6 held with illegal electronic goods

Police seized a huge quantity of illegal electronic goods and other items and held six people in this connection on Thursday.

Acting on a tip-off, the district police held a Dhaka-bound covered van carrying the smuggled items at Bara Takia under Mirersarai upazila at around 2.30pm.

The goods included VCD players and fans worth around TK 30 lakh and arrested the people engaged in carrying them.

They are driver Siraj, 32, Faruq, 38, Shimu Barua, 36, Arun Mallik, 26, Mokhlesur Rahman, 28 and Ujjal, 20.
