Mattau arrives today for nat'l camp

Sri Lankan batting coach Wayne Mattau, who worked with the Tigers before the Zimbabwe series, will arrive today, ahead of the national camp for the tour of West Indies that starts in full swing tomorrow at the Bangabandhu National Stadium.

The camp, which began on March 29 with 24 probables announced by chief selector Faruque Ahmed, has so far concentrated on physical fitness in the absence of coach Dav Whatmore. Whatmore who flew home to spend time with his family, is expected to return today and supervise the camp that will welcome the arrival of players involved in the one-day series against Zimbabwe A.

As part of the plan to utilise the services of experts before the tour to the Caribbean in May, the Bangladesh Cricket Board has also hired American baseball coach Mike Young, who has worked with the all-conquering Australians for many years. Young will join the camp on April 13.

Bangladesh are scheduled to fly to West Indies on May 6 to play two Tests and three one-day internationals.
