Derailment: Rail links with Ctg, Sylhet snapped for 9 hrs

Train service on Dhaka-Chittagong and Dhaka-Sylhet routes remained suspended for over nine hours as five bogies of a goods train derailed at Kaliganj in Gazipur in the early hours of yesterday.

The bogies of the Chittagong-bound goods train from Tejgaon went off the track at about 3:30am.

A local railway official said train communication on the routes resumed at 1:30pm as a relief train from Dhaka salvaged the bogies.
