Winter draws nigh
City Correspondent
The Met office predicted that the city would be experiencing winter, sometime around mid-November, as usual, this year. Already most city-dwellers have experienced some low temperatures which the met-office assures were due to the rain last week. Even though the heat of summer can still be felt, most joggers and members of the public, who come out during dawn, have noticed a slight change in temperatures. Some also reported the dewdrops and slight fog, last week. “The South-west monsoon winds, responsible for the humidity are passing away over the country now." Said Abul Hasan, a meteorologist, from the Met-office at Agargaon. "As soon as these pass away, dryness would be experienced, which would be a harbinger of the coming winter." Said Hasan. Since the 28th of September, the length of days is decreasing over the length nights. Some parts of the city along with some districts outside the city, has experienced low temperatures over the last week. The rain that had occurred around Mymensingh and some other areas of the country last week caused this. But winter vegetables and fruits are already arriving at the different markets of the city at a very high cost. "Even though, the fruits we are selling are not up to the mark, yet most people are ready to buy them at the price that we are charging," Said Belal, a papaya seller of Kawranbazar.
