Mahesh on silver screen
Mareja Mehdi and Uttam Ghosh are going to make a film based on the revolutionary short story Mahesh by celebrated author Sharat Chandra Chattopadhyay, says a press release. On this occasion, the makers and the artistes of the film organized a press conference at the Reporter's Unity.

Sabbir Chowdhury, general secretary of Zahir Raihan Film Society chaired the conference. He hoped that the filmmakers should pay more attention in producing 'clean pictures'. One of the directors of the film, Uttam Ghosh, explained why they chose a story of the early twentieth century for a film that is being produced at the beginning of the twenty-first century. He said that the story, especially in relation to the character of Gafur, starting a new career as a worker at a mill discarding his forefather's vocation, has a contemporary relevance.

Quil Islam has written the script for the film Mahesh, while Aupu Rosario will be behind the camera. Popular musician Bari Siddiqui is directing thew music for the film.

The different roles are portrayed by Debesh Ray Chowdhury (Gafur), Masud Ali Khan (Tarkaratna), Medha Chattopadhyay (Amina) and Pijush Bandyopadhyay (Zamindar).w The makers are hopeful about releasing the film in December this year.
