BDR retains kabadi crown


Bangladesh Rifles (BDR) clinched the 25th National Kabadi Championship title as they breezed past Bangladesh Police 61-27 in the final at the Outer Stadium kabadi court yesterday.

The winners led the first half 28-10.

BDR, who retained the title for the second successive year, recorded their 17th triumph in the national kabaddi championship since its inception in 1973.

Ziaur Rahman of BDR was adjudged the best player of the meet.

Earlier, Bangladesh Army grabbed third spot when they overpowered Khulna District Sports Association (DSA) 37-19 in the third-fourth play-off match.

Eight teams took part in this edition which began on Friday. The teams were BDR, Police, Army, Navy, Khulna, Tangail, Satkhira and Dhaka DSA.
