DMP asks AL to change meeting venue for CPA confce security

The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) commissioner has requested Awami League (AL) leader Dr HBM Iqbal to change the venue of a planned AL public meeting at Tejgaon Polytechnic Institute ground tomorrow in the interest of security and safe movement of the participants in the CPA conference.

The planned meeting can be arranged at Paltan Maidan or any other place away from the CPA meeting venues including Sonargaon and Sheraton hotels with the permission of the authorities concerned and the Dhaka City Corporation, said a press release signed by DMP Commissioner Ashraful Huda yesterday.

The BNP-led four-party alliance will hold a rally at Paltan Maidan on October 8.

Earlier, former AL lawmaker Dr Iqbal had sought permission from the principal of the Polytechnic Institute for holding a public meeting to be addressed by Leader of the Opposition in the Jatiya Sangsad Sheikh Hasina on October 7.
