7 robbers held with Tk 4.5 lakh booty

Seven of an inter-district gang of robbers including their leader have been arrested and Tk 4.5 lakh and 14 tola gold ornaments recovered from their possession. In a week-long drive till yesterday in Dhaka, Chittagong and Modhupur in Tangail, the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) arrested them and recovered the money and ornaments. The arrestees are gang leader Badrul Haq alias Tana Nasir, Shashi Kanta Marak, Nikhil Chandra Nath, Rakib Mahmood Talukder, Faruq Hossain, Abu Tayeb Sujon and Kazi Mahmood. Police said six of the arrestees Four of the five arrestees are Kabir Hossain 22, Ibrahim 27, Abdul Jalil 25 and Bazal Ahmed 28. The identity of another could not be known. One of the injured policemen, Constable Mujibul Huq, was admitted to Cox's Bazar Sadar Hospital and the other two given first aid. A case was filed. In another drive, police arrested a criminal in Rumaliar Chhara area of the district yesterday. The arrestee, Kefayet, 22, is an accused in seven criminal cases. Police also recovered three bullets from his possession and filed a case.
