The controversy over the death of housewife Tia, which whipped up public protests in the town, has taken a new turn after the Deputy Commissioner and the Police Superintendent visited the Christian Para on Thursday. As part of a prove into the death, First Class Magistrate Faroq Ahmed on Friday visited the house Tia's husband in the town where she died and talked to her father-in-law and other inmates. Mystery shrouds Tia's death as her parents are claiming that she was killed while her husband's family is claiming that she died on August 29 from injuries she suffered when the stove burst as she was boiling milk. The Sadar thana had earlier allegedly refused to accept a murder case and recorded an unnatural death (UD) case. Within an hour of Thursday's visit by DC Ismail Hosain and SP Maniruzzaman, police recorded a murder case and replaced the investigation officer (IO). The murder case was filed by Tia's mother Sucharita Adhikari, police said. Investigation officer SI Mostaq Ahmed of the Sadar thana, has been replaced with Officer-in-Charge Ramjan Ali. In the case Sucharatia alleged that her daughter was burned to death at her husband's residence. Tis's husband Shahed Rahman alias Pavel and his mother Rawshan Ara Rahmat have been accused in the murder case. The two are absconding since Friday, police said. Members of the Christian community in the town staged a token hunger strike on September 10 demanding proper investigation and punishment of the killers. They also brought out a mourning procession in the town earlier. On September 6, Tia's younger brother Arvin Adhikari submitted a complaint to the SP for proper investigation into the incident. On the following day, some members of the Christian community arranged a press conference where the victim's father also demanded proper investigation into the incident.
