He said that Pakistan took full advantage of the pitch and fast outfield and put up a total that was too big to chase for Bangladesh.

He admitted that his boys lost the match at the halfway mark as his bowlers were finding it difficult to adjust their line and length after the Test series.

"We gave a little bit too much room and they capitalised on that. I want to give them full credit for what they have done," said Whatmore.

But the inspirational Bangladesh coach was not ready to accept that his bowlers bowled badly.

"We bowled a bit loose in the early stages but I thought we bowled well later. But again Pakistan batted very well and we were blown out of proportion," Whatmore added.

Answering to a question on whether Bangladesh had any game plan, Whatmore disagreed saying of course they had a game plan but it did not work out.

"In one-day cricket you need something extra. I think that's what we lacked today," Whatmore added.

"We lost some early wickets as well and that was a big blow for the team," he said.

Captain Khaled Mahmud, however, blamed his bowlers including himself for allowing Pakistan to score too many runs.

"We were totally outplayed today in the face of some good batting from Pakistan. The target was too big for any team and we could not do anything," he said.

Stand-in Pakistan captain Inzamamul Haq said that his team was determined to do good and he was very happy to see them come good in the match.

When asked how good the Bangladesh bowling was, the tall Pakistan middle-order said that they bowled within their limitations but again the wicket was too good for batting and that's why they succeeded in putting up a big total.

"I think we played a good match today and that will inspire us to play better in the coming matches," he said.

The big right-hander, who crossed nine thousand runs in one-day cricket, said that he did not want to stop at this point.

"I think I have some more runs in me. I will continue to score runs until I retire," he said.

Opener Yasir Hameed, who scored 118 runs and won the man-of-the-match award, said that he was excited to take the challenge after his captain told him on Monday that he would have to open the innings.

"It was a very good wicket to bat on and I'm extremely happy to score a hundred," said Yasir.
