Re-investigation ordered into Kalidas murder
The Additional District and Sessions Judge of Bagerhat has ordered reinvestigation in the sensational Advocate Kalidas Boral murder case by suspending its trial on Saturday. He further ordered submission of the report of the reinvestigation to the court within 45 days.
The court earlier rejected a petition against the reinvestigation of the case submitted by the complainant Happy Boral.
Meanwhile, the complainant has prayed to the court for a stay on the reinvestigation. Hearing of the prayer will be held on Sunday.
Bagerhat Awami League Vice President Advocate Kalidas Boral was gunned down on August 20, 2000 at Sadhana Square of the town. Charge sheet of the case was submitted on October 31 of the same year accusing 22 persons of the murder. So far, five out of 74 prosecution witnesses have been examined. Three out of 22 charge-sheeted accused are absconding. Among them, five are in jail custody while 14 are on bail.
