Three 'abducted for ransom' in Kushtia

Three young men including a college student were abducted allegedly for ransom from the town on Tuesday.

They are Abu Saeed Titu, 18, son of Golam Mostafa; Sajib, 17, son of Shamsul Huda and Jewell,18, son of Sahidul Islam of the town.

Of them, Abu Sayed appeared at the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) examination this year.

The three were friends who went out of their houses at about noon on Tuesday. They did not return home till 10 pm, according to a victims' families.

Tipu's father Golam Mostafa said an anonymous phone caller demanded Tk 5 lakh to get back his son alive.

A case was filed with Sadar police station.

Police said, BDR personnel and police launched a joint operation to rescue them, but they could not be traced till filing this report at about 7 pm on Wednesday.
