2 pairs of siblings get life for murder in Netrakona

A court here on Tuesday sentenced two pairs of siblings to life term rigovous imprisonment for killing a man in Kalmakanda upazila in 2001.
The convicts are Babul and his brother Shafiqul, sons of late Sayed Ali, and Abdul Malek and his brother Chanfor, sons of late Nabi Hossain of Charulia village in the upazila.
The court also fined each of them Tk 50,000, in default, to suffer one year more rigorous imprisonment.
According to the prosecution, the four hacked Abdur Rashid to death near his house at the village on May 13, 2001 due to previous enmity.
Later, the wife of the deceased, Kamrun Nahar, filed a case against five people in this connection.
Police submitted a charge-sheet to the court against the accused on April 7, 2002.
Meanwhile, one of the accused, Zabbar, died during the trial of the case.
After examining seven witnesses and evidence, the Judge handed down the verdict.
