2 Laxmipur AL leaders murdered
Two Awami League leaders were found dead in Sadar and Raipur upazilas of Laxmipur this morning.
The deceased are Abdul Mannan Bhuiyan, 52, AL president of Charshahi union unit of the Sadar upazila; and Abdul Majib, 47, general secretary of ward No.2 of Raipur municipality in Raipur upazila.
Quoting family members, police said Bhuiyan went out of his Rampur house in Sadar upazila at about 11:30pm Wednesday.
Locals found the slit-throat body of Bhuiyan near his house around 5:30am and informed police, reports our Noakhali correspondent quoting Kamal Hossain, in-charge of Daserhat police outpost.
The body was sent to Laxmipur Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy, the police official said.
In Raipur upazila, police also recovered the body of Majid from beside Harun-Ur-Rashid Road in the morning.
Majid might have been strangulated to death said Manjurul Haque Akon, officer-in-charge of Raipur Police Station.
Reason behind the killings could not be ascertained immediately.
