2 die in Tangail bus plunge

Two people were killed and 30 injured as a bus plunged into a river breaking the railing of a bridge in Kalihati upazila of Tangail this afternoon.  

One of the deceased was indentified as Md Alamgir Hossain, 35, of Bogra; while the identity of the dead victim could not be known immediately, reports our Tangail correspondent. 

The bus fell into Pungli River in Poulee area while overtaking a truck, Kamruzzaman Raz, a sub-inspector of Elenga Highway Police, told The Daily Star.  

Fire fighters and locals rescued the victims and sent them to Tangail Medical College and Hospital where doctors declared two persons dead.

Condition of six is said to be critical, hospital sources said.
