2 BNP, one AL 'rebel' candidates expelled

Three upazila level leaders, two from Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) and one from ruling Awami League (AL), have been expelled for submitting nomination papers as rebel candidates to contest the upcoming upazila parishad elections in Munshiganj, Dinajpur and Pabna.
Our Munshiganj correspondent reported that town BNP vice-president advocate Salauddin Khan Swapon was expelled from the party on Tuesday night as he is contesting for the post of chairman of Sadar Upazila Parishad election, defying party decision.
Pabna district unit of BNP yesterday expelled Vangura upazila unit general secretary Nur Mojahid Swapon for not withdrawing his candidature on Tuesday, the last day of withdrawal of nomination papers, reports our correspondent.

Advocate Mujibur Rahman is contesting for the post of chairman of the upazila parishad as BNP candidate in the upcoming polls scheduled for February 27. Mojahid submitted his nomination paper as rebel candidate.
In Khansama upazila of Dinajpur, local Awami League leader Abu Hatem was expelled from the party on Tuesday on charge of violating party discipline. He is contesting for the post of chairman of the upazila parishad in the election slated for February 27.
Khansama upazila AL executive committee took the decision in a meeting held at Pakerhat Degree College complex on Tuesday evening, according to our correspondent.
