15 held in India return home

Fifteen Bangladeshis returned home through the Benapole check post on Friday after languishing in an Indian Jail for two years.

Indian Border Security Force (BSF) handed the 13 women and two children over to Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) authorities at night.

They hailed from Narail, Bagerhat and Satkhira districts, said Gias Uddin, in-charge of Benapole Check post BGB camp.

A gang of traffickers sent them to India through Jessore border promising lucrative jobs.

In Kolkata, police arrested the 15 and produced them before a court which sentenced them to two years in prison.

In Satkhira, BGB arrested nine people, including three women, while they were entering Bangladesh through Kulia border illegally yesterday, reports our correspondent.

The arrestees hailed from different areas of Pirojpur and Bagerhat districts, said nayeb subedar Nurul Amin of Bhatsala camp at BGB-34 Battalion.
