14 ‘Shibir men’ held before Jatiya Press Club

Shahbagh police yesterday detained 14 alleged activists of pro-Jamaat student organisation Islami Chhatra Shibir from in front of Jatiya Press Club in the capital.
Police and witnesses said the 14 were entering the press club to attend a discussion and recitation programme marking Victory Day.
“We suspect that they might have come there to commit subversive activities,” said Abdul Jalil, officer-in-charge (investigation) of Shahbagh Police Station.
Police were quizzing the detainees to learn their identities as of filing of this report around 8:30pm last night.
