14-kg gold seized at Shahjalal airport
Customs officials in a drive seized 120 gold bars weighing around 14 kilogrammes at the Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka this afternoon.
None was arrested in this regard, an airport official said.
On a tip-off, a joint team of customs and customs intelligence officials found the gold bars inside a bus in the airport Cargo Hall after conducting a search around 3:30pm, Dr Moinul Khan, director general of custom intelligence of the airport, told The Daily Star.
The gold bars were found in an abandon condition wrapped with cloths during the three-hour through search after the passengers came out from the airbus of BG 046, Dr Khan said.
The flight arrived in Dhaka from Dubai via Chittagong, the official added.
Approximate worth of the gold is around Tk seven crore, Kazi Md Ziauddin, joint commissioner of customs, said.
