11 ‘carjackers, snatchers’ held in Dhaka

Law enforcers claimed detention of 11 members of alleged carjacker and snatcher gangs in separate crackdowns through Dhaka last night.

Detectives nabbed five members of carjacker gangs and seized two stolen cars, fake pay order slips, forged papers and BRTA seals, a message to the media from on behalf of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) read this morning.

A press briefing disclosing details of the captured would be held at the DMP media centre in the capital later in the day, the message said.

Meanwhile, Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) claimed to have detained six persons of an ‘organised gang of snatchers with a stolen private car from different parts of Dhaka.

The elite force also recovered two pistols, huge amount of ammunition and sharp weapons, a Rab message issued for the media read.

It is being said that the gang used to snatch valuables from people who got into their car. A press conference would be held at Rab 1 office in this regard later in the day.
