10 Santals hurt, 5 houses burned in attack over land in Rajshahi

At least 10 Santals were injured and five of their newly-made tin-shed houses were burnt after being ransacked in an attack by some 30 miscreants in Rajshahi's Godagari upazila at the dead of the night yesterday.
The injured were admitted to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital and Godagari Health Complex while police arrested one local, Saiful Islam, in this connection.
The victims of Bautia Potaharpur village accused a local influential wealthy farmer for the attack, taking place around 3:00am.
The upazila parishad had evicted him from a piece of khas land and the five victimised Santal families, having no residence, had started living there some two months ago, they said.
