BTRC allows IoT solutions in Bangladesh
Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) today issued a directive on allowing Internet of Things (IoT) for smart buildings, automation industries and some other city services that will help to establish a smart city.
IoT is a technology which connects machine to machine, gives city dwellers better performance and improves the efficiency of the technology.
This technological advancement will help to find out easy solutions for different problems as the country has already started adopting IoT solutions, read the BTRC directive uploaded on its official website.
According to the directive, signed by Md Aminul Haque, director of spectrum management at the telecom regulator, all the importers need to be enlisted to BTRC and have to take no-objection certificate before importing any IoT device in the country.
BTRC mentioned nine sectors where IoT technology can be used in the country -- smart building, industry automation, smart grids, water management, waste management, smart agriculture, tele care, intelligent transport system, environment management, smart urban lighting and smart parking.
Already different countries have adopted this latest technological innovation and according to BTRC there will be 30 billion IoT devices in the globe by 2020 that will help to ensure better performance.
Different companies already have started working with this state of the art technology in the country and some of them already setup IoT laboratories here.
DataSoft Systems Bangladesh Limited, a local firm, launched its state-of-the-art IoT laboratory on 13 November, 2016 in Dhaka.
DataSoft is also now establishing 10,000 smart homes in Tokyo, Japan using the next generation IoT solutions in what can be termed a spectacular leap for the country's IT industry.
They also signed an agreement with the Ministry of Transport and Communication Channels of Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) to advise and install IoT-based toll management solution for its Matadi Bridge.
