Youth killed as people of two villages clash
A youth was killed and 10 others were injured when locals of two villages clashed at Bhangabari intersection in Sadar upazila of Sirajganj yesterday.
The deceased is Imran Hossain, 27, son of Isharat Ali of Bhangabari village of the upazila.
Police and locals said, there had been a long standing rivalry between the villagers of Bhangabari and Diardhangora village, over establishing supremacy in the area.
As a sequel of their previous enmity, locals of the two villages, equipped with sharp weapons attacked each other around 1:30pm, leaving Imran dead on the spot and injuring 10 others from both the groups, said Habibul Islam, officer in-charge of Sadar Police Station.
Away in Netrakona, at least 25 people were injured when two rival groups of fishermen clashed at Bejgao village in Kendua upazila on Sunday, reports our correspondent.
Ovi Ranjan, Officer in-charge of Kendua Police Station, quoted locals as saying that there had been a long standing rivalry between the men of Haider Ali and Maju Mia over catching fish in Pathashowary River.
As a sequel of previous enmity both the groups attacked each other around 4:00pm leaving 25 people for both sides injured.
