Yaba smuggler held in Teknaf
Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) detained one person and recovered huge number of Yaba pills from his possession at Teknaf upazila of Cox's Bazar last night.
Detained Mohammad Yusuf, 42, is a son of Noor Sultan of Teknaf Sadar union.
Acting on a tip-off, a patrol team of BGB battalion-42 challenged Yusuf at Moulvipara area around 11:30pm and recovered the contraband from his possession, reports our Cox's Bazar correspondent.
BGB men fired at Yusuf while he was jumping into the Naf River to avoid arrest, said Lt Col Abujar Al Jahid, commanding officer of BGB 42.
Later, the BGB men rescued Yusuf, who sustained minor bullet injuries, and recovered around 50,000 Yaba tablets from him, the official added.
Yusuf was also handed over to the Teknaf Police Station after given him primary medications.
A case was filed with the police station in this connection.
