NY police arrest Bangladeshi woman’s ‘killer’
New York police yesterday arrested the man who fatally stabbed Bangladeshi woman Nazma Khanam during a botched robbery attempt just blocks from her Queens home, reports PIX11 TV.
Yonatan Galvez-Marin, 22, was picked up Saturday evening (local time) in Jamaica Hills — not far from where he allegedly murdered 60-year-old woman last week.
Police said the suspected killer admitted to stabbing the woman when she refused to hand over her property during the attempted robbery, which took place on Normal Road around 9:15pm Wednesday.
Khanam, whose nephew is an NYPD transit officer, was carrying some packages home with her husband, who let her walk ahead of him when his asthma flared up.

When she was out of view, the woman’s husband heard her scream and ran to catch up with her. But when he found her, she was dying on the sidewalk with a piece of the knife sticking out of her torso.
A funeral was held Friday in Queens for Khanam.
Galvez-Marin has been charged with murder, robbery and possession of a weapon. He admitted to attempting to rob Khanam, police sources said. Police dismissed the possibility that the killing was a hate crime.
