WI rout Pakistan on way to semis
Pakistan were routed for 82 runs as West Indies sealed an 84-run victory to reach the semi-final of the World T20 in Dhaka today.
The key architect for Pakistan's demise was Samuel Badree and Sunil Narine, each of whom took three wickets.
Only four Pakistani batsmen reached double figures, and none of them contributed much as the team was all-out within 18 overs.
Earlier, a merciless late blitz from Dwayne Bravo and skipper Daren Sammy powered West Indies to 166 after Pakistani spinners choked their progress in the early goings.
Bravo lightened up the Sher-e Bangla Stadium with his 46, hitting two fours and four sixes.
He was aptly supported by his captain Sammy, who himself drilled 42 off just 20 with five fours and two sixes.
The two scored 71 runs off just 5.2 balls after Pakistani bowlers restricted the West Indians in the early parts of the innings.
Ace-opener Chris Gayle and Dwayne Smith departed cheaply, before a slow innings from Marlon Samules and a run-a-ball 31 from Lendl Simmons set the stage for the Smith-Sammy show.
Four Pakistani bowlers -- Mohammad Hafeez, Sohail Tanvir, Zulfiqar Babar and Shahid Afridi -- claimed one wicket each.
Pakistan's strike bowler Saeed Ajmal was hammered for 41 off his 4 overs, including the 19th over that disappeared for 24.
Earlier, West Indies won the toss and elected to bat first in the must-win game of the World T20.
The winner of today's match will advance to the semi-final stage of the tournament from Group 2, alongside India, who have already qualified.
The other two teams in the semi-fnals are South Africa and Sri Lanka from Group 1.
