The scoreboard showed 'Brazil 1-1 Croatia' when the opening match was running at 69th minutes.

Brazilian player Fred throws himself to the deck while backing into Croatian defender Dejan Lovren.

Referee Yuichi Nishimura immediately blew his whistle showing foul against the Croat defender and directed a penalty.

Croatian Goalkeeper Stipe Pletikosa tried his best to save the visitors but his attempt went in vein.

He got a firm hand to Neymar's penalty -- but the ball still found the corner that changes the scoreboard -- Brazil 2-1 Croatia, Neymar (Pen).

"Drama! A terrible decision… Never a penalty - but it is given. Referee Yuichi Nishimura - are you sure?" says a BBC story while covering the match live.

In an official tweet of World Cup 2014, it shared a video saying, "Was this a penalty?"
