BKSP making football stars
Football has been one of the country’s premier sports, even though it has been undergoing a tumultuous time of late.
And Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protishthan, located about 28 kilometers north-west of Dhaka, is an assembly line of national footballers.
Legends such as the likes of Mamunul Islam, Zahid Hasan Emily, Zahid Hossain, Hemanta Vincent Biswas all graduated from this institution.
Bangladesh’s current dire straits in football notwithstanding, the BKSP is likely to be the source of future stars.
One such player is Under-16 footballer Emon Khan, identified by his coaches – including chief football coach Ujjal Chakraborty – as one of the brightest prospects at the BKSP today.
Emon surprisingly said that far from being a discouragement, Bangladesh football’s current state makes him want to be a footballer so that he can help his country.
