BDCyclists bid to break Guinness World Record
Led by the biggest cyclists’ group in Bangladesh named BDCyclists, around 1,200 bicyclists on this Victory Day attempted to break the Guinness World Record of forming the world’s longest single line of moving bicycles.
To beat the present such record held by 984 cyclists of Bosnia, they paddled their bikes for nine kilometers in a single line on the Purbachal highway in Dhaka.
Starting near the International Convention City Bashundhara (ICCB), they crossed Boalia Bridge over the Turag River and returned to the starting point in a 30-minute ride.
"We are nearly certain that the new world record has successfully been set as all 1,186 participants maintained the line perfectly," said Fuad Ahsan Chowdhury, a moderator of BDCyclists.
There was no representative from the Guinness Records. But as per the Guinness rules, they recorded the whole event and sent it to the authorities. The results will be published soon, Chowdhury said.
