UPDF activist shot dead in Khagrachhari
An activist of United People's Democratic Front (UPDF) was shot dead by unidentified criminals in Lafaidong area under Manikchhari upazila of the district yesterday.
The deceased was identified as Uchimong Marma, 20, son of Balachu Marma of Maradhulu village in the upazila.
Locals said an unknown gang opened fire on the UPDF activist, leaving him dead on the spot.
UPDF blamed Santu Larma led faction of Parbatya Chattagram Jana Sanghati Samity (PCJSS) for the killing.
In press release, UPDF district coordinator Pradipan Khisha said the armed cadres of Santu Larma led PCJSS opened fire on Uchimong and two other party activists on their arrival in Lafaidong area at around 9:00am to carry out organisational activities.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) Shafiqul Islam of Manikchhari Police Station said law enforcers recovered the body and sent it to Khagrchhari Adhunik Sadar Hospital for autopsy.
Police are trying to arrest the killers and unearth clue to the murder, the OC added.
