Two siblings hacked to death over irrigation
Two brothers were hacked to death allegedly by their cousins over a family feud in Razabaria village under Nandail upazila of Mymensingh yesterday morning.
The dead were Tofazzal Miah, 45, and Swapan Miah, 32, who worked as rickshaw pullers in the capital. Their elder brother, Abdus Sattar, was injured in the incident, said police.
Md Saiful Islam Farazi, officer-in-charge of Nandail Police Station, said Abdus Sattar had an argument with his cousins -- brothers Abul Khayer and Jahar Uddin -- about two months back over sharing collected rainwater for irrigation.
Abul and Jahar again argued with the three brothers over the same matter around 7:30am yesterday. At one point, Abul and Jahar attacked the three brothers, killing Tofazzal and Swapan on the spot and injuring Sattar, he added.
The bodies were sent to Kishoreganj Modern Hospital morgue for autopsies. A case was filed.
Farazi said they are trying to nab Abul and Jahar, but the two are on the run.
