Two 'robbers' held in capital
Police arrested two persons suspected of attempting to rob a flat in the capital's Banasree yesterday.
The flat's tenant Sardar Ibrahim Shaheen said Muntasir Billah Raju, 30, and Amal alias Sohel Rana alias Babu, 29, introducing themselves to the six-storey building's caretaker as his relatives, stormed his fourth floor residence around 1:30pm.
The caretaker locked the main gate on hearing his wife scream, “Robbers!”, and informed police, said Shaheen, quoting his wife for he was not present during the incident.
Accomplices of the two waiting in a microbus outside stopped the locals trying to enter and know what was happening, saying it was a family matter, he said, adding that when Rampura police arrived, the others fled.
Rampura Police Station Sub-inspector Mazharul Islam said they recovered a barber's razor which Shaheen claimed the two were carrying and were interrogating the two. No case was filed as of yesterday evening.
